Display of numeric answers
For questions created with the solutionSymbolic, solutionSymbolicSet, or solutionNumberUnits answer types, you can control the numeric answer format that students see in correct and wrong answer responses, including:
- Number of decimal places
- Number of significant figures
About adding the optional numeric format string
To set the answer format that students see in an answer response, use the add@format option to specify a format string.
- Mastering grading compares student submissions to the formatted answer, NOT to the exact unrounded answer.
- The valid format strings are the same as for varDefinitions.
- If no format string is specified, the format {3} is assumed. That is, numeric answers are displayed to three significant figures, without using scientific notation for values like 200.
